Sibling Rivalry/Parent/Child Relationship Breakdown

When is it time to seek help?

"I get the front seat, I'm oldest!"

"Dad, he won't stop flicking my ear!"

"Mom, she's in my room taking my clothes again!"

"I hate you, I want to live with Dad"

"I am 15 now and I can do what ever I want"

"Don't tell me who can be my friends"

Sound familiar?
If you have more than one child, the answer is probably "yes," because these are the sounds of sibling rivalry or sibling conflict.
Conflict has been around since the begining of time. Many effective strategies from veteran parents have been tried and tested.
Unfortunitly most lessons are set aside and ignored with each new generation. New parents reinventing the perfectly good wheel all over again..then ending in frustration, anger and self defeat.

Our youth sessions help young people and adults think differently about each other so that they can work together, understand the differances between adult and child thought, to change their friendships and schools for the better.
We don't just build skills, we build mutually respectful relationships between young people and adults that allow young people to move from the margins of their small world into the center.

The most important idea to keep in mind while working with adolesants is that the key role of adults is to assist and support young people.
Young people are inherently intelligent, cooperative and caring. When they are given space and encouragemet, they will flourish.
We have put great effort into learning how to assist young people. The guidelines that we teach have been used effectively.
